Stefan's route into digital design through the Digital Accelerator
Stefan completed our Digital Accelerator course, became confident using Adobe Creative Cloud, and built an incredible website. We caught up with him about his experience.
What made you apply for the Digital Accelerator course?
I wanted to start a career in digital but didn't know where to start. I didn't have a degree or a design background, but I knew it was something I was interested in — and that the course would give me the skills I needed to start my career.
What did you hope to gain from doing the course?
Before the course, I felt the barrier to entry to the Adobe suite was quite high — both the cost and the steep learning curve. I wanted to learn the fundamentals of working in digital so I wasn't completely lost when trying to get into the workplace.
How did the course help you secure your job?
The skills I learned around the interview process and how to write a creative CV were super helpful. It also helped me develop some of the language needed to communicate with people in the digital industry.
How has the course helped you in your job?
A lot. From the basics of UI design patterns, to standard workplace file-naming, to using design software that transfers into almost anything — I wouldn't feel as comfortable as I do now without it. I've definitely been able to build on what I learned to start a career I love.
What would you say to someone interested in the course?
Go for it! The teachers are all great (thanks Clare, Cath and John). You'll learn a lot whether you already work in digital or are on your way into the industry.
Interesting, fun, but intense learning that certainly helped me on my way to starting my career in digital.
