Overview

Technical art sits at the intersection of art and engineering in games — the people who make sure beautiful art runs at 60fps on a console. This bootcamp gets you started in that role.

We launched this in late 2025 in response to demand from the South East games industry (which is bigger than people realise — Brighton, Guildford, and Sussex have dozens of studios). The course is delivered in partnership with two local game studios who provide guest sessions.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need to know an engine?
Some prior exposure to Unreal or Unity helps but isn't required. We'll spend week 1 making sure everyone is at a baseline.
Is this for artists or coders?
Mostly artists who want to add technical capability. We don't go deep into C++/C# — we focus on the visual scripting and shader editor side.
Will I be ready for a games job?
For a junior tech art role: with portfolio polish, yes. The careers support after the bootcamp specifically focuses on games industry routes in.
