Valentina, recently completed her Digital Marketing Programme with Vixen Digital. We caught up with her to find out how she found her experience.
Why did you decide to apply for an apprenticeship?
Getting into digital marketing was a big deal for me. It was a huge change from what I was used to, like working in tourism and customer service. But I chose to do it because I wanted something more creative in a growing field. Following my passion for travelling I started my own travel blog. As I was working on it I stumbled upon SEO, email marketing, and social media, and many other interesting things.
I decided that I wanted a job that could give me an overview of all these different aspects and working as a digital marketer in a digital agency was the perfect chance. Considering that I didn’t have any previous experience and English isn’t my native language, I believed that an apprenticeship was a good way to enter the industry and gain some practical experience. I discovered Creative Process’s apprenticeship programmes while completing the Digital Accelerator course. Through them, I found Vixen Digital, a small digital marketing agency focused on PPC and SEO, and I started my role there as a Social Media Assistant.
Tell us more about your experience at Vixen Digital
I was very lucky to join Vixen Digital. Working at a small agency allowed me to explore various aspects of digital marketing, from social media to SEO, helping me understand what I truly enjoy. My line manager and the rest of the team were great at helping me learn and supporting me during the apprenticeship. After graduating and completing my apprenticeship, in June 2023, I was offered a permanent position and promoted to Digital Marketing Executive. And I am happy to say that I am still employed at Vixen Digital, which feels a bit like a family to me. to join.
What would you say to someone interested in becoming a digital apprentice
As I mentioned in the blog “My Journey Through a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship” I believe that doing an apprenticeship is a great way to kickstart your career especially if you don’t have any experience in your chosen field. Unlike university, apprenticeships give you hands-on experience which is what employers want. If you’re eager to learn more, there are countless online resources available, while obtaining practical experience can be more challenging. All of this comes while you’re earning, because let’s be honest, money plays a crucial role! I also believe that university often fails to prepare you for the real-world.
It’s never too late for a change in career! I made the switch at 34 years old!
