Apprenticeships

Case Study |

Neeki Chitsaz

Newly qualified Content Producer, Neeki from FrogBox shares with us her journey as an apprentice and the opportunities her apprenticeship has offered to her.

Why did you decide to apply for an apprenticeship?

After working hard to achieve a first-class honours degree in Illustration, I thought getting a job in my chosen field wouldn’t be as difficult as it was. Sadly, after 8 months of applying and constantly being rejected because I “don’t have the required experience” or at least 1-2 years’ experience in a similar job role, it massively knocked my confidence and I questioned was my degree even worth it. I came across the apprenticeship to work with Frogbox Marketing as a Junior designer, whilst undertaking the Content Producer award, which felt the perfect chance for me to finally kickstart my design career, whilst allowing me to develop and learn new skills about content producing.

Tell me about your job role and what you loved the most?

I am employed as a Junior Designer for a marketing agency, and I assist my lead designer in all things design, whilst also helping support my other team members with content for our clients. I’ve learnt so much already within the past year, and I’m surrounded by the best team which makes the environment a great place to work.

How has your apprenticeship given you a real head start in your career?

The apprenticeship has enabled me to kickstart my career and I can now officially continue on my journey as a designer. I was able to use this year to develop and learn from both colleagues and tutors and become a valuable team member.

What opportunities did doing an apprenticeship give you?

The apprenticeship gave me an insight into marketing and content strategy, which allows me to combine this knowledge with my creative side. The apprenticeship has allowed me to really become a qualified designer but has also helped me personally
evolve in confidence and skills.

What advice would you give to an employer considering hiring a digital apprentice?

Employers should definitely look into hiring digital marketing apprentices as it allows that individual to learn and grow with the company, thus getting that work experience that most jobs require. They will also be hiring extremely motivated and hardworking apprentices, which once the apprenticeship is completed, are ready to fully step into their role and grow with the company.

If you had to use one sentence to describe your apprenticeship what would it be?

I’ve become part of team who I absolutely love, doing a job in the industry that I studied for and was determined to get, as my passion is with design. I’m so glad I took the opportunity with the Creative Process, as this has allowed me to grow as a designer, content producer, and build back my confidence and more.
