Apprenticeships

Breathe HR

We caught up with Marketing Director Rachel from Breathe HR.

She shared with us her thoughts on hiring a digital marketing apprentice…

Tell us a bit about your business?

We are Breathe.  We make HR software for UK SME’s to help businesses spend more time with their people and less time on admin. We’re based in Horsham, sussex, and now help over 6,500 companies manage their people.

Why did you decide an apprentice would be right for your business?

Our marketing team has a wealth of expertise in a range of areas. We are also passionate about learning and development so it was quite a natural next step to look into marketing apprenticeships.

What advice would you give to other businesses considering hiring an apprentice?

You need to have the time to dedicate to helping your marketing apprentice. Remember that the apprentice is with you to learn so make sure they get to work on a variety of projects.  At the same time your marketing apprentice needs to be treated like any other member of your team with performance expectations set.

Would you hire another apprentice?

Most definitely. I have also recommended the scheme to other areas of our company.

What’s surprised you most about having an apprentice?

The process was surprisingly straight forward. Once we’d decided to go ahead it really only took us
a couple of months from start to finish!
